Alicia Baylor
Board of Directors Excellence in Service Award, 2006
As Co-Coordinators of the Wings of Hope Program, Alicia Baylor and Kathy Marshburn became IBBA's ambassadors for this special program, lovingly caring for and managing all details of this program.
They carefully took care of all details for 7 Wings of Hope Butterfly Releases during 2006. This involved reviewing applications, ongoing communication with prospective recipients, promoting the events, recruiting donors and facilitating the shipments. Their work did not stop there. There was follow-up and closure with all individuals and organizations involved, both donors and recipients and final reports for each event placed on the Wings of Hope Web page. We are truly appreciative of the care and attention they have given to this program. Their work has been outstanding.

Lifetime Honorary Award
Awarded to Melanie McCarthy, November 2006
Melanie has been president, board member, committee chairperson and more. She has guided us through legal and procedural minefields numerous times. Her bookkeeping, accounting, business, and organizational skills have kept the IBBA on track. Ms. McCarthy single handedly took care of the incorporation of Wings of Hope so it is now a 501c Corporation that can take tax deductible donations. She was instrumental in securing two important sponsors for Wings of Hope: The Molly Bish Foundation and the Granby Public Library in Granby, Massachusetts. Melanie has been a part of the IBBA since its beginning, but it is what she has done in the interim that matters. Zane B. Greathouse

Dale McClung
Lifetime Honorary Award
Awarded January 2013
Dale McClung has been nominated for the Lifetime Honorary Award by Rick Mikula and approved by the board. Everyone that I spoke with about Dale said that he is well deserving. Dale has been a member of the IBBA almost from its conception. He has and continues to work many hours, mostly behind the scenes, on the behalf of the butterfly industry.
Over the years, Dale has served terms on the board, numerous committees, is a past president, and a current board member. He has been a liason between our industry and the regulators, working on restrictions, as well as building bridges with our adversaries. Keeping abreast of the trends, Dale monitors many lists while defending our industry. He has attended every convention from the day he joined, has given presentations, etc. Dale willing and openly shares his extensive knowledge of butterflies, the industry, the business, policies, and regulations, among other topics of which he is well versed (just bring up anything to do with history!).

Nigel Venters, recipient of 2004 Special Committee Award for his long-time, ongoing and dedicated contributions to helping people learn about butterflies. Nigel has patiently answered literally hundreds of private e-mails and has taken the time to answer questions from beginner to expert raising topics on the IBBA and Butterfly Family Lists for four years.

Lifetime Honorary Award
Awarded to Nigel Venters, November 2006
Nigel is the unofficial mentor of the IBBA. He has donated many hours sharing husbandry and culture ideas. His musings on the list are always well read and generate much positive interest. I know of no one who knows more about the breeding of butterflies and certainly no one who has been more willing to share their knowledge with beginners. Nigel has patiently answered the same questions time and time again as new IBBA members learn the intricacies of butterfly rearing. Zane B. Greathouse
